Performance Venues for Mercury Players Theatre
The Bartell Theatre
113 East Mifflin Street, Madison, WI 53703
The Bartell is shared by six member groups, including: Mercury Players, Madison Theatre Guild, Strollers Theatre, StageQ, KRASS Theatre, and the Madison Ballet. It is a converted movie theater that offers two separate performance spaces: a 200-seat proscenium theater upstairs, and a 90-seat black box theater on the ground floor with modular seating capability. Both spaces offer wheelchair accessibility, a lobby bar and concessions area featuring wine, beer, soft drinks, and a variety of other snacks and refreshments, all in a beautiful location just off the Capitol Square in downtown Madison. There are many excellent restaurants within walking distance, including: Sol’s on the Square, The Heritage Tavern, The Old Fashioned, Cooper’s Tavern, Hamilton’s, and many, many more.
Directions to the Bartell: From I-90/94, take Hwy 30 to exit U.S. 151 S./E. Washington Avenue. Just before Capitol Square, turn right on Webster Street and go 1 block to Mifflin Street. The Bartell will be on your left and a City of Madison parking ramp will be on your right. There is limited street parking directly in front of the theater.
